2025 GPC ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Our work in 2025 secured major victories across the state in what may be the most successful year in GPC’s history! Some of our top wins this year include:

SB 20 passed allowing veterinarians who work in shelter medicine or sterilization clinics for three years to apply for a total of $75,000 in educational loan repayment.

HB 331 passed! Aimed at backyard breeding, HB 331 bans the transient sales of dogs, cats, and rabbits in public places.

Originated and sponsored by Rep. Sharon Cooper, HB 177 passed, providing protection for household pets in both family violence and dating violence protective orders. Helping communities with local ordinances aimed at stopping backyard breeding.Counties & cities with ordinances are listed on the back of this page.

Partnering with national, state, and local organizations to reduce the pet overpopulation in Dekalb County through the following programs:

Local surgical training of veterinarians in High Quality, High Volume Spay and Neuter (HQHVSN) techniques.

The first-in-the-nation local HQHVSN training for dogs was held in Dekalb Co. as a part of United Spay Alliance’s pilot program.

Free Spayathons for underserved pet owners.
